Delavan Get Away - Tips & Hints
During the warmer season if you are interested in a beach day I would recommend the Fontana Beach on Lake Geneva located by The Abby Resort, Gordy's night club, and Chuck's restaurant/bar a 10-12 min drive. Delavan is great for fishing/tubing/water skiing, but not beach swimming. You can also go to the William's Bay beach (15 min drive) or downtown Lake Geneva beach (20 min) but I like Fontana beach best.

During the winter months in Lake Delavan you will always finding people on the ice fishing, skating and snowmobiling. Delavan is know for its excellent fishing year round, including ice fishing. In February 2010 the NAIFC (North American Ice Fishing Competition) was held on Lake Delavan. Delavan has a 1.4 - acre sledding hill. Rudy Lange Sledding Hill is located north of Washington Street at its intersection with Terrace Street. The hill is lighted throughout the winter and provides a 335-foot sledding area. Lake Lawn Lodge The Grand Geneva hosts down hill skiing (18 slopes), snowmobiling, and snowboard rentals available at the mountain top chalet (262)249-4726 or (888)392-8000. During the winter months before Christmas Lake Geneva also hosts Festival of lights, sledge rides, ice sculptures, and more....

Check out: History of Delavan

"...Delavan is home to the Wisconsin School for the Deaf, and Andes Candies; Between 1847 and 1894, Delavan was home to 26 circus companies. The Mabie Brothers U.S. Olympic Circus, then the largest in America, arrived in 1847, to become the first circus to quarter in the territory of Wisconsin. Its famous rogue elephant, "Romeo", stood 19½ feet high, and weighed 10,500 pounds. The original P.T. Barnum Circus was organized here in 1871...more than 250 members of the old circus colony are buried in Spring Grove and St. Andrew's cemeteries. Delavan has gained the title of "Circus Capital of the World"."
